Dance Program
For young and old alike! The Round Lake Area Park District offers many forms of dance including ballet, tap, modern and jazz. Our experienced instructors tailor the program toward skill development, socialization, and a group dance experience where every dancer excels.
Dress Code for Studio of Dance
Dancers work harder and stay more focused when properly dressed for class. We know and appreciate the fact that dancewear is an investment; therefore, we offer a practical, long-lasting and reasonably priced online storefront at DiscountDance.com.
All students are required to follow the dress code, including wearing the proper clothing and footwear. Hair must be secured with no hair in the face (unless the teacher specifies differently). A teacher may assist with securing hair away from a student’s face if needed. Jeans and jewelry are not allowed. The dress code should be followed as it aids the teachers to observe body alignment without distraction. Our dress code is as follows:
Ballet/Prep for Pointe Classes:
- Pink ballet shoes - leather or canvas (Intermediate and Advanced classes should use split sole shoes)
- Pink tights
- Ballet wrap skirts, shorts, and a shrug are optional
- Solid color leotard
- Hair must be pulled back into a bun, especially for long hair
Tap Classes:
- Black Oxford tap shoes
- Tan or black tights
- Solid color leotard (any tight clothing is preferred)
- Jazz pants, leggings, or shorts are optional
- Hair must be pulled off the face
Tap & Ballet Combination Classes:
- Pink ballet shoes
- Black tap shoes
- Pink or tan tights
- Solid color leotard
- Ballet skirt, shrug, leggings, or shorts are optional
- Hair must be pulled off the face
Jazz/Modern/Lyrical:
- Tan (or black for Jazz) jazz shoes - leather or canvas
- Tan or black tights
- Solid color leotard (Any tight-fitting clothing is preferred)
- Jazz pants, leggings, footundeez and shorts are optional
- Hair must be pulled back off the face
Jazz Funk:
- Black jazz shoes/sneakers
- Tan or black tights
- A solid color leotard (Any athletic clothing is preferred)
- Jazz pants, leggings, or shorts are optional
- Hair must be pulled back off the face
Pointe:
- Pointe shoes - individually fitted by store. (Allegro Dance Boutique, Barrington does pointe shoe fittings)
- Pink transitional tights
- Solid color leotard
- Ballet wrap skirts, shorts, and a shrug are optional
- Hair must be pulled back into a bun, especially for long hair
Male Dress Code:
- Black jazz/jazz sneakers/ballet/tap shoes
- White T-shirt
- Jazz pants/shorts
