Hours for the Prairie Grass Nature Museum:

  • Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday: 11 am - 4 pm
  • Saturdays and Sundays: 12 pm - 4 pm
  • Closed Mondays and Fridays

Come visit this free museum, which is located in the Aquatic Center next to the Community Center! With its lifelike displays, it is designed to give visitors an experience of the outdoors while staying inside.

Ever see the blooming flowers of a prairie, elegant birds of a wetland, or mammals of a woodland? How about all in one room? This FREE museum, with its lifelike displays, is designed to give visitors an experience of the outdoors while staying inside.

Our live animals are here for you to view and learn about, as well. Monthly facts, crafts, and activities are available when you stop in.

We have Nature Discovery Packs available for loan to individuals and families to take and explore Hart's Woods. We are located in the Aquatic Center and Nature Museum building, and look forward to seeing you on your visit!

 

 

 


Nature Discovery PacksNature Discovery Packs

Discovery Packs are available to borrow during open museum hours. Visit the Nature Museum and we'll loan out a Nature Discovery Pack for your next nature walk - free of charge. It includes: magnifying glass, compass, binoculars, ruler, IL plant ID guide, IL wildlife ID guide, laminated activity sheets, and markers. It's the perfect companion to have out in the woods! If the museum is not open, contact Kathy Paczynski, Recreation Supervisor, at (847) 740-9823 to arrange to borrow a Nature Discovery Pack by picking it up at the Robert W. Rolek Community Center, 814 Hart Road, Round Lake, during registration hours.
