Eagle Scout helps out Children's Museum
The Children's Neighborhood Museum has two new additions thanks to a local Boy Scout.
Sean Buchenberger, 18, from Lake Villa Boy Scout Troop 188, reached out to the Round Lake Area Park District last January to say he was interested in doing a project for the Children’s Neighborhood Museum to complete his Eagle Project.
"Sean told me as a child he came to the museum and really wanted to do something to give back," said Dena Krieger, Recreation Supervisor for the Children's Neighborhood Museum.
After brainstorming ideas with Krieger, Buchenberger decided he would build a puppet theater for the STEAM room. In addition, he created a bird house tree decoration to be placed next to the house in the Neighborhood Room.
Over the past year Buchenberger, who lives in Ingleside, developed a plan, submitted it to the Boy Scouts of America for review, and got to work gathering a team of Scouts to help create these items.
Buchenberger presented the museum with his finished project in December and the items were installed in the museum. Buchenberger is scheduled to earn his Eagle Scout Rank in January 2024.
