Park District Updates:

Summer at the Round Lake Area Park District is typically a very busy time with swimming, camps, events and activities. The Park District is following the Governor’s Restore Illinois Plan, Centers for Disease Control (CDC), and the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) as it pertains to public parks, recreation activities, and facilities.

We are fortunate to have our parks remain open for passive recreational opportunities such as walking, running, and biking! We encourage all of our residents to get out and visit our parks regularly to enjoy fresh air, maintain mental and physical health while practicing physical distancing. Below you will find a listing of updates by area of interest.

Summer Events
Large summer events including 4th of July fireworks and the summer series are unlikely to occur based on the current pandemic and Restore Illinois Guidelines. While these programs have been a staple in our community for years, the health and safety of our residents is at the forefront of our decision making.

Summer Camps
Due to the current situation and with following the Governor’s Restore Illinois Plan, it is unlikely we will be providing summer camps in the same capacity as in the past and will be issuing full refunds (by check please allow two weeks for processing) for your currently enrolled camp program. We do understand the need for child care remains a priority in our community. As we progress through the Restore Illinois Plan and receive necessary information from the CDC, Illinois Department of Public Health, and the Governor we intend to provide you with new summer program options and registration details.

Parks, Playgrounds & Sports Fields/Courts
Spring and Summer is in the air, and our Parks Team is out and about making sure our outdoor spaces are being maintained for your enjoyment. Please remember that our playgrounds, disc golf course, skate parks remain closed. In addition team sports and practices are not allowed on our fields or courts. As we move forward together in the Restore Illinois Plan we expect to be able to incrementally expand access.

Renwood Golf Course is open to the public while following restrictions from the Illinois Department of Commerce as part of the Stay at Home Order. Tee times must be reserved in advanced by calling (847) 231-4711 or booking online at

Park Shelter and Facility Rentals
Park and facility rentals remain unavailable. We will accept reservations once it is permitted by the Restore Illinois Plan.

The District will continue to communicate updates through the end of the Governor’s Restore Illinois Plan. We thank you for your patience and understanding during this time.
