BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS NOW SEEKING APPLICANTS

The Park Board is looking for interested candidates to fill vacancies on the Park Board

Should an appointment be made, the replacement commissioner will serve for two years, ending in April 2025. The replacement Commissioner would then be eligible to run for another term in the April 2025 election, should they choose to do so.

The Round Lake Area Park District is governed by five elected commissioners, representing the recreational needs of the community for six-year unpaid terms. Park Commissioners have the power to levy taxes within prescribed limits, establish or change Park District policies, sign agreements, award contracts and possess all the powers similar to those of a board of directors for a public corporation.

The Commissioners are expected to attend, in person, Board Meetings on the second Thursday of each month at 6 PM at the Robert W. Rolek Center. Additional meetings may be added as needed, but with advanced notice.

In order to be considered, send a letter of interest containing any information you feel the Board would find relevant and return it by email to robert_newport@rlapd.com or by regular mail to Robert Newport, Executive Director, 814 Hart Road, Round Lake Illinois 60073 before May 29, 2023. Once received, a meeting will be scheduled with the Board of Park Commissioners to discuss your application. The Commissioners will then vote, at a public meeting, appointing a replacement for the vacant seat.
