Summer Camp FAQs

Which camps will have Parent Orientation Meetings?

  • Summer Trails School Age Day Camp: 6:00 pm on Wednesday, June 5 at the Robert W. Rolek Community Center
  • Camp North Shore: 6:00 pm on Tuesday, June 4 at CDC Site II

Where can I find activity/field trip information for my child's camp?

Once the information is available, it will be posted within the tab charts at www.rlapd.org/camp-programs.

What should my child bring to camp every day?

Campers should come dressed in comfortable clothes and shoes that can get dirty. Gym shoes are highly recommended. Campers should bring a reusable water bottle, a healthy lunch and snack, sunscreen, and insect repellent. Please check your specific camp information for additional items that may be needed.

Inclusion

Partnered with Special Recreation Services of Northern Lake County, the Round Lake Area Park District offers inclusive opportunities for individuals with disabilities to participate in the same programs and activities as their peers. Reasonable accommodations are provided to enable an individual's successful participation in a program. SRSNLC will be partnering with Summer Trails (Hart Woods and Sports Center locations) and Teen Camp to provide inclusive opportunities for campers that may need additional assistance and may benefit from more individualized care throughout the day. If you are interested in registering your child for either Summer Trails or Teen Camp and feel they would require assistance from an inclusion companion, please make sure to specify on your camp packet that inclusion services are being requested. There will be additional paperwork for you to fill out to ensure that your child is placed in the appropriate camp group, and to ensure our staff are properly prepared. Additionally, you will be contacted by the Special Recreation Services Manager and/or the Recreation Supervisor to conduct a needs assessment prior to the start of camp. Campers will not be provided a 1:1 aide, all campers must be able to function at a 1:4 staff/camper ratio. Should you have any questions, or feel that your child will not be able to function in a camp group with a 1:4 staff/camper ratio, staff will be available to share other possible options. Additional options may include registration in our Camp North Shore Summer Camp, providing your own inclusion companion or a variety of other possibilities.

If you have additional questions, call us at 847-546-8558.
