The 4th of July is always one of our favorite holidays at the Round Lake Area Park District. It's amazing how large the crowd gets, and we're grateful that you celebrate with us every year.
Weather was humid and in the high 80s, but that didn't stop our fun. We kicked off the celebration at 6:oo pm with kids games, face painting, and temporary tattoos. The community band played in the background and people slowly started taking their seats.
By 7:30, we welcomed our headliner band, HiFi Superstar to the stage. They played a lot of current songs, as well as ones from the 70s and 80. They were awesome. Crowds were getting larger and many families were having picnics, playing frisbee, and visiting our sponsor tables.
At one point, lightning struck and some ominous clouds began approaching. Our lightning detection system went off and alerted us to take shelter. The band stopped temporarily, but luckily the storm passed and they were able to resume. By 9:00, all was well and the evening culminated in an amazing fireworks display. Thanks to all who joined us.
We'd also like to thank our sponsors for helping us make this night possible: Knauz Automotive, Meijer, Hooters of Gurnee, Lake County Fairgrounds, Round Lake and Fairfield Citco Marts, and Dave's Transmission.
